Theragun Attachments: Every Massage Head Explained
Every Theragun ships with a few heads and accepts all of them, which is where buyers get confused. Here is what each one is for, in the order you will reach for them.
Shop NowThe standard heads
Replacement heads are a modest, flat price at the official store. All heads fit all Theragun models.
Dampener
Tight spots & trigger points
The small pointed head (older lineups called it the Bullet). Tight knots, trigger points and stubborn spots: the lower back, the place between your shoulder blades, the IT band.
Wedge
Back, along the spine
The wedge spans a longer muscle group, and its flat edge lets you work right alongside the spine without touching it.
Standard Ball
Most muscle groups
The rounded all-rounder. Quads, hamstrings, glutes, calves. If you are unsure which head to start with, this is it.
Large Ball
Glutes, thighs, back
The biggest contact area in the range, for the biggest muscle: glutes, thighs, the whole back. Spreads pressure over more surface, so it feels milder than it is.
Cone
Calves, forearms
The tapered middle ground between the point and the balls. Calves, forearms, smaller limbs of the body you keep forgetting you have.
Thumb
Trigger points
A rounded, flat-topped head that works like a therapist’s thumb. Trigger points and the small areas the other heads sweep past.
Supersoft
Sensitive areas
The softest head, for sensitive areas and for the first week of owning a gun, when “gentle” is still too strong a word.
Micro-point
Feet, hands, small knots
The smallest head, for precision work: feet, hands, and the knot at the base of the neck that only a pinpoint can reach.
The Plus heads and premium modalities
The Plus line of guns (Mini Plus, Prime Plus, Pro Plus) uses an updated set of heads: Ball Plus, Dampener Plus, Wedge Plus, Thumb Plus and Micro-point Plus, sized for the heated and vibration heads. Three premium heads add a third modality on top of percussion: the Heated Percussive Plus, the Cold Plus and the Vibration Plus.
Check PriceAre Theragun heads interchangeable?
Yes. Every head in the system fits every Theragun model, from the Mini to the Pro Plus, and replacement heads are the same parts. The only catch is the Plus line: the Plus heads are the updated shapes, and the premium heat and vibration heads are built for the Plus guns. Standard heads, though, are one system across the whole range.
How to change a Theragun head
Press the release button on the side of the gun while pulling the head straight off. No twisting, no tools.
Line up the slot on the new head with the peg on the gun and push until it clicks. You will feel the lock engage.
Give it a firm tug. If it stays, it is on. If it came off in your hand, it was never on.
Head questions, answered
What are the different Theragun attachments for?
Each head targets a different job. The Dampener works on tight knots and trigger points, the Wedge runs along long muscle groups next to the spine, the Standard and Large Ball cover big muscle, the Cone and Thumb handle smaller areas, the Supersoft is for sensitive spots and the Micro-point is for precision work on feet and hands. You do not need them all at once; the ball plus the dampener covers most sessions.
How do you change a Theragun head?
Press the release button on the side of the gun and pull the head straight off. Push the new head on until it clicks, then give it a firm tug to confirm the lock. Ten seconds, no tools. Full steps are above.
Are Theragun attachments interchangeable?
Yes, across the whole range. Every standard head fits every Theragun model, Mini to Pro Plus. The Plus line uses updated Plus heads and the heat, cold and vibration heads are built for the Plus guns, but the system is one, which is what makes upgrading a gun a non-event for the heads you already own.
Where do I get Theragun replacement heads?
From the official Therabody store, where each standard head is a modest, flat price. Heads wear slowly; the grip ridges going smooth and the head feeling loose in its mount are the two signals to replace one. Because every head fits every model, you are never locked to a specific gun when you buy a replacement.
